After going to Utah Beach we stopped by Sainte-Mère Eglise to see the church and the WWII museum there. The church has an effigy of John Steele constantly hanging outside the church as a memorial to the paratrooper "whose parachute caught on the spire of the town church, and could only observe the fighting going on below. He hung there limply for two hours, pretending to be dead, before the Germans took him prisoner."
