Portsmouth, OH

We spent part of a Saturday checking out Portsmouth, the town for which the place where I work was named (not sure why since it's about 30 minutes away and Piketon is the actual town it is in). The visit to the town was kind of sad as it looked like it may have been a booming town at one time but now had many abandoned houses and buildings and not really much going on. There was one interesting thing to see there however--flood wall murals at the edge of town along the Ohio River. The murals covered the entire 20 foot tall wall for 2000 feet of length. It took the muralist about 10 years to complete. The cool thing about the murals is that they have a very 3D look to them and it almost looks as if you could walk right into the mural.
